Add, move, and remove blocks on a page
Blocks are the building units of every page in the website editor. This guide covers the four things you'll do constantly: add a block, move it, duplicate it, and delete it. You edit blocks inside the full-screen editor as a community owner or admin — managers and agents can't touch it.
Add a block from the palette
- In the editor, click the Add icon (the +) in the left rail. The block palette opens.
- Browse the groups: Layout, Hero, Content, Social proof, and Call to action. Hover any item to see a small wireframe preview of what it looks like.
- Add it one of two ways:
- Click the item to drop it straight onto the page. It lands right after the block you currently have selected, or at the very bottom if nothing is selected.
- Drag the item onto the canvas. A blue line shows exactly where it will land — release when the line is where you want the block.
New blocks arrive pre-filled with obviously-fake example text so you can see the shape before you style it. Replace that placeholder copy with your own — see Edit block content. Image slots stay empty until you add a picture, so a fresh block won't show a stray stock photo.

Select a block
Click any block on the canvas to select it. You'll see an accent-colored outline around it, and the inspector opens on the right with that block's settings. A floating toolbar also appears just above the selected block.
Move a block
You can reorder blocks four ways — use whichever feels fastest:
- Drag on the canvas. Grab the block and drag it up or down. The blue drop line shows where it will land.
- Arrow keys. Select a block, then press the up or down arrow key to nudge it one slot at a time.
- The Navigator. Open the Navigator from the left rail and use the up/down chevrons next to a block to move it.
- The block toolbar. Use the move up / move down controls in the floating toolbar above the selected block.

The floating block toolbar
When a block is selected, a small toolbar hovers above it. From left to right it gives you:
- The block's name (so you always know what you're on)
- Move up and move down
- Add below (inserts a new block right under this one)
- Duplicate (the copy icon)
- Delete (the trash icon)
Duplicate a block
To copy a block — content, styling, and all — click the copy icon. It's available in three places: the floating toolbar, the Navigator, and the inspector. The duplicate appears right below the original, ready to edit.
Note: navigation and footer blocks (your site chrome) can't be duplicated — there's only one of each.
Delete a block
You can remove a selected block from any of these:
- Press Delete or Backspace.
- Click the trash icon in the floating toolbar.
- Delete it from the Navigator.
- Use the delete control in the inspector footer.
Every delete asks you to confirm first. Be deliberate: there is no undo. If you remove the wrong block, you'll need to add it back and rebuild it.
Keyboard shortcuts
With a block selected (and not while you're typing in a field):
- Delete / Backspace — delete the block (with confirm)
- Up arrow / Down arrow — move the block up or down
- Esc — deselect the current block
These shortcuts are ignored while your cursor is inside a text field, so you can type freely without triggering them.
Troubleshooting
I clicked a block in the palette but it landed in the wrong spot
A clicked block inserts right after whatever block is currently selected — or at the bottom of the page if nothing is selected. Select the block you want it to follow first, then click the palette item. Or drag instead and watch the blue line to place it exactly.
I deleted a block by mistake
There's no undo. Add the same block type again from the Add palette and re-enter its content. This is why every delete asks you to confirm — pause on that prompt before you commit.
The arrow keys aren't moving my block
Make sure the block is selected (accent outline showing) and that your cursor isn't inside a text field. While you're typing, the arrow keys move the text cursor, not the block. Press Esc or click the block's edge to select the block itself, then use the arrows.
I can't duplicate my nav or footer
That's expected. Navigation and footer blocks are site chrome — there's only one of each, so they can't be copied. See Set up site navigation and Build your footer to edit them.
