Add a TL;DR and FAQ to a post
Every post in a collection — a blog post, a case study, a resource guide — can carry two extras on top of its article body: a TL;DR (a two-to-three-sentence summary shown in a callout near the top) and an FAQ (a question-and-answer accordion). Both are written once in the post editor and placed on the rendered page automatically, so you never touch the design. The FAQ is also emitted as machine-readable FAQPage markup, which is what lets AI search tools quote your answers — see Where FAQ schema works today for why that matters.
Who can do this
Posts are edited by community owners and admins in the orange platform panel, same as the rest of the CMS. If you're new to the entry workflow, start with Add and edit entries in a collection.
Open the TL;DR & FAQ tab
- In the orange platform panel, go to Website, open the CMS, and select the post.
- Click the TL;DR & FAQ tab in the post editor.
The tab holds a TL;DR text box, the FAQ list, and two buttons: Generate from article and Find content gaps.
Write the TL;DR
The TL;DR is a two-to-three-sentence plain-language summary of the post. Type it into the TL;DR box, or click Generate from article to have AI draft it from the post's own text — see Generate a post's TL;DR and FAQ with AI.
On the rendered post it appears as a callout titled TL;DR near the top — right under the header or hero when the template has one — so a skimming reader gets the takeaway before deciding to read on.
Build the FAQ
Each FAQ item is a question with a short answer. You can build the list three ways, and mix them freely:
- Generate from article — AI drafts a set of Q&As grounded in what the post actually says.
- Find content gaps — pulls in questions people really search for that the post doesn't answer yet; you write the answers. See Find content gaps with live search demand.
- Add question — write a question and answer by hand.
Remove a single item with its ×, or use Clear FAQ to drop the whole list.
How they appear on the post
You don't place these anywhere — the renderer does it for you:
- The TL;DR callout goes near the top of the post, under the header/hero.
- The FAQ depends on the template. If the template's layout already includes a designed FAQ section, your post's questions replace that section's questions on this post — its position, heading, and styling stay. If the template has no FAQ section, the post gets its own accordion titled Frequently asked questions at the bottom of the article, above the footer.
If you Clear FAQ on a post whose template has a designed FAQ section, that section's own questions come back.
The FAQ is also machine-readable
Whenever a post has an FAQ, the page automatically emits FAQPage structured data — and it always matches exactly the Q&A a visitor sees on the page, never something invisible. There is no separate schema step and nothing to keep in sync. Curious what structured data is? See What is schema markup.
Save and publish
The TL;DR and FAQ save with the rest of the post:
- Save draft keeps your work without changing the live post.
- Publish pushes everything live — the callout, the accordion, and the updated markup.
Troubleshooting
My TL;DR or FAQ isn't showing on the live post
They only reach the public site when the post itself is published — and a published post also needs its template's layout published and the site live. Work through the three conditions in Add and edit entries in a collection, then allow a few minutes for the site cache.
The template's FAQ questions disappeared from my post
That's the replacement rule: once a post has its own FAQ, it takes over the designed FAQ section's slot on that post. Use Clear FAQ to fall back to the section's own questions.
A question I added is missing from the accordion
Only items with both a question and an answer are kept when the post saves — a row with a blank answer (for example, one just added from content gaps) is dropped. Write the answer, then save again.
